Emotional balance is the ability of the mind and body to maintain equilibrium and flexibility in the face of challenge and change. But so often we find ourselves ‘locked’ into negative or fear-based patterns of thinking, and the longer we are stuck in this state of imbalanced emotion, the harder it is to return to a more neutral state. The bad news is, prolonged anxiety or depression can be damaging to our bodies and will start to present physically as pain, fatigue, anger, or illness.
The good news is, we have the capacity to change. Anxiety and depression don’t have to be the default. We can un-attach from our old stories and develop new patterns by learning healthy ways to cope and self-soothe. This workshop is rooted in yoga yet supported by psychology and science, and will include:
A discussion of the effects of anxiety + depression on the body and on our overall sense of wellbeing
A movement practice that includes ways to up or down regulate our own felt experience
Mindfulness techniques that can help to rewire the brain for greater emotional balance
An opportunity to normalize our experiences through community and connection
